Visitors to Tanzania require a passport that is valid for at least six months after the initial date of travel. Almost all visitors to Tanzania require a tourist visa, which costs between US$20 and US$100 for a tourist visa that is valid for three months. While most embassy and travel websites will encourage you to get this visa before departing your home country (especially if you require a multiple entry visa); it is straightforward to obtain a single-entry 90-day tourist (or work visa) upon arrival at any of the country’s major entry points, such as Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro international airports, as long as you are able to pay for your visa in US dollars cash.
Visa on arrival:
You can get Tanzanian visa upon arrival also. You need to fill in a form and produce your passport at the counter. Please note your passport must have a validity of atleast 6 months.
The visa charges are 100 USD for US citizens and 50 USD for the rest of the world.
To get online visa, you will have to fill an online form, make payment and then submit the same. This form will be internally reviewed and processed. The status of the application (if it has been accepted or rejected) can be viewed through the online system. The applicants will receive notification regarding their visa status through email.
We request all our travellers who are looking to get an online visa to book through the official Tanzania Immigration website only and not through any other links.
The official link of the Tanzania Immigration website is eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/
When applying for an online visa, first you will be requested to fill in basic information like your email, passport number, passport issue country, a security question and its answer. After filling these details you will be able to start a new application. Upon starting a new application, kindly fill in the required fields with correct information.

Visa & Documents

Alternatively, you can get your visa ahead of time. U.S. Citizens get the visa application from the U.S. Tanzania Embassy website or call them in Washington D.C. at 202-939-6125, and ask for a visa application. Other nationalities check Tanzanian Embassies around the world for the nearest embassy.
